Mother Charged With Abuse

A Bullitt County woman was charged with child abuse after
being accused of beating her 5-year-old daughter with a
belt.
Rita A. Bailey, 39, was arrested and
charged Monday night, said Detective Scotty McGaha of the
Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office.
McGaha said officials were informed
about the possible abuse and went to interview the woman.
He said Bailey told police she became angry last week when
she finished cutting the grass and then couldn’t find her
daughter. She is accused of then using a belt on her
daughter.
McGaha said the girl had bruises on
her back and legs.
The girl was taken to Kosair
Children’s Hospital in Louisville on Monday to be
examined, and child-protective service workers placed her
with another family member.
Bailey is being held in the Bullitt
County Jail.
