Two Arrested In Shooting
05/08/08 MRC/CJ

Two men have been arrested in connection with an early morning shooting off Preston Highway.

Marcus Swan, 20, and Dandre Owens, 20, both face first-degree robbery and first-degree assault charges, according to Alicia Smiley, a Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman.

Police were called to the 2600 block of Colin Avenue on a report of a break-in. The call came from someone who was hiding under a bed inside the home.

When officers from the 6th Division responded, they set up a perimeter around the house.

At some point shots were fired in the house and within minutes, Swan and Owens exited the house and surrendered.

Two men who had been inside home were taken to University Hospital with gunshot wounds that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Smiley said there were also three women, another man and two small children inside the home at the time of the break-in and shooting. None of them were injured.

Swan and Owens allegedly demanded money from the men inside the home before the shooting.

Colin Avenue is east of Preston Highway and between Eastern Parkway and Hess Lane.
