Former Police Sentenced
05/09/08 MRC/CJ

Former Clarksville police officer Franklin Mikel was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison for selling drugs at a skating rink he used to own.

Clark County Superior Court Judge Cecile Blau sentenced Mikel, 35, under a plea agreement that allowed him to avoid potential sentences of up to 50 years on each of three original charges.

The plea bargain with deputy prosecutor Robert Bottorff reduced the charges from Class A felonies to Class B felonies and capped the total allowable sentence at 12 years.

Mikel admitted that he sold morphine tablets to an informant three times in March and April last year at the Greentree Skateland roller rink that he owned in Clarksville.

Blau sentenced Mikel to the 12-year maximum under the plea deal but ordered that one year be spent on home incarceration and another on probation.
