Workers Get Extended Break
05/09/08 MRC/CJ

As gas prices drive truck sales down, Kentucky Truck Plant workers will have to endure rolling, temporary furloughs in the coming months, Ford Motor Company and United Auto Workers representatives said Thursday.

Week long layoffs begin this month on the body and paint lines where F-Series Super Duty trucks are produced, according to Ford spokeswoman Angie Kozleski .

She declined to comment anything beyond this month.

However, UAW Local 862 Vice President Todd Dunn said the furlough system will continue in June. July will bring a month long plant shutdown instead of the traditional two week summer break.
