Council Adjusts Requests
05/10/08 MRC/CJ

The Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education approved tuition increases for the state’s public colleges, but not as much as some institutions requested.

The council slashed the requested tuition increase for Kentucky Community and Technical College System from 13 percent to 5.2 percent.

It also reduced tuition increases for Eastern Kentucky and Kentucky State universities by 1 percentage point. Both had proposed 8 percent increases.

The council granted the proposed tuition increases for the universities of Louisville, Kentucky and Northern Kentucky.

The state also went ahead with its plan to cut Western Kentucky’s tuition increase by 1 percentage point for undergraduates, but it allowed the university to offset that cut by increasing out-of-state tuition.
