Man Sentenced For Drugs
07/24/10 MRC/BGDN

Joe Bud Coates, 45, of Glasgow, was sentenced this week in U.S. District Court to two years in prison on drug-related charges.

Coates was charged with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, aiding and abetting the manufacture of meth, and attempting to manufacture meth. Co-defendant Bobby Wayne Vaughn, 32, of Barren County, was sentenced earlier in the month to 15 months in prison on similar charges. The two had pleaded guilty to the charges. Both also will have three years of supervised release after the prison sentence.

A news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in October 2009, U.S. Park Ranger saw Coates in Mammoth Cave National Park in possession of equipment for the manufacture of meth and in the process of attempting to manufacture the substance.
