New Hospital For Perry County
07/26/10 MRC/AP
Officials of a southern Indiana hospital plan to begin construction late this year on a new $46 million facility.
Perry County Memorial Hospital president Joe Stuber says the new building is needed because it has outgrown the current hospital built in 1951 and there isn't room to expand at the Tell City site.
Plans call for the new hospital to have room for 25 inpatients and be finished in the fall of 2012 just north of the Ohio River community. Stuber says there will be enough space to put all the hospital's services in the building, while some departments now occupy houses near the current hospital.
He says a review of renovating the current hospital estimated it would take eight years to finish and cost $2 million more than a new building.
