Bus Overturns Causing Minor Injuries
03/04/10 WGC/AP

Police in western Kentucky say about a dozen schoolchildren were taken to a hospital when their bus overturned on a rural road.

Colonel David Crafton with the Henderson County Sheriff's Department says the children's injuries were not severe. Crafton says the bus' wheel went off the roadway around 7:15 a.m. CST and the driver overcorrected, causing the bus to overturn and land on its side on the opposite side of the road. The accident occurred on near Robards.

Henderson County school district spokeswoman Ellen Redding says there were 13 students on board the bus when the accident happened and all were taken to a local hospital. Redding said the students suffered minor injuries such as bruises and cuts and only one was expected to be held overnight for observation.

She said the students ranged from elementary to high school age.
