Grant Aids In Eye Research

A new grant will allow University of Louisville scientists and clinicians to continue studying what causes diseases that leave people blind and how to treat the ailments and prevent them.

The foundation Research to Prevent Blindness awarded $100,000 to the university Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences.

The funds will allow research to continue into age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.

Officials say the foundation has awarded the U of L School of Medicine more than $3 million to date.
