Body Found In Trash Can
02/02/12 MRC/AP
Lexington police have found a decomposed body in a trash can in a wooded area in an industrial park.
Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn said the body found Wednesday would be sent to the state medical examiner's office to determine the person's identity and cause of death. He said the body was in a mummified, decomposed state and the person had been dead for quite some time.
Ginn said his office is treating the case as a homicide.
Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts says police were investigating a missing person and learned information that led them to the scene. She said it was too early to say whether the body was that of the missing person, who was reported missing in December.
