Senate Approves Early Graduation
02/03/12 WGC
The Kentucky Senate has approved a bill to allow some students to graduate from high school early so they can enter college.
The proposal by Senator Ken Winters, a Murray Republican, also passed the Senate last year. Winters' measure applies only to students who meet specific criteria, including having a grade point average of 3.2 or higher and who have high ACT scores.
It provides for a $2,500 scholarship that would go to the students' college or university of choice from money that would have instead gone to their school districts.
The proposal now goes to the House of Representatives for consideration.
