Two Men Arrested In Local Burglaries

Two men were arrested and are facing several charges after being caught attempting to break into residences near Brandenburg.
According to the Meade County Sheriff’s Department, a call was received just before 1 pm Thursday of two white males attempting to burglarize a residence on Jordan Avenue. Sheriff Deputies responded to the call to find 32 year-old Damon Sharp and 24 year-old Jeremy Castleman, both of Louisville at the residence. The men had attempted to gain entry to the house by pulling on the doors and were held there until police arrived.
As deputies conducted their investigation, they found two pry bars and various tools, along with an assortment of jewelry, electronics, drugs, and even a pit bull dog, inside the black 1998 Nissan Altima, that the men were driving.
As the investigation continued later that evening, deputies investigated another break-in that occurred on Stringtown Road, after the property owner returned home. The men had forced entry into the home and took jewelry, a television, snowman pillow case, and a pitbull dog. The items matched the descriptions of the items found in Castleman’s vehicle earlier in the day.
Castleman stated to police that he was driving Sharp around for extra money. Police arrested and charged Castleman with one count of possession of burglary second degree, one count of possession of a burglary tools, and one count of attempted burglary.
Damon Sharp was arrested and charged with one count burglary second degree, one count of possession of burglary tools, one count of possession of controlled substance first degree, one count of possession of a controlled substance second degree, attempted burglary first and four active warrants from Jefferson County.
Both men were lodged and remains in the Meade County Jail. The pit bull dog was placed in the custody of the Meade County Animal Control.
