Trial Rescheduled In Infant’s Death

A western Kentucky man charged with smothering his infant daughter will face a retrial in May.
McCracken County Circuit Judge C.A. "Woody" Woodall bumped Jesse Allison's case from January 30 in Princeton to May 29. Allison is charged with murder in the death of his 7 month-old daughter, Ariel, in September 2009.
Woodall allowed the delay because a defense witness was unavailable.
Allison's attorney, Jack Faust, said the delay wasn't a problem because Allison is out of jail on home incarceration and living with family members in Elizabethtown.
A jury deadlocked in Allison's case in September.
Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins said Ariel had been intentionally smothered. Allison claims he found his daughter wedged between her crib rail and mattress, with her face pressed into the mattress.
