Court Orders Hold On Records
01/29/12 WGC/AP

A state appeals court judge has ordered a temporary hold on details in records the Cabinet for Health and Family Services must release regarding children who died or were injured as a result of abuse or neglect.

Chief Court of Appeals Judge Jeff Taylor issued his order Friday just before a deadline for the cabinet to turn over records. The cabinet began providing documents expected to exclude a broader range of information.

Franklin County Circuit Judge Phillip Shepherd this month ordered the release to the Herald-Leader and The Courier-Journal with only limited redactions. The cabinet asked the state Court of Appeals to let it withhold information under its terms, and Friday's stay allows that until a three-judge appeals panel takes up the issue February 7.
