Abused Child Dies

A two year-old child died Sunday afternoon after being severely abused while in the care of a babysitter last week.
The female toddler was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital on Wednesday with multiple bruises over much of her body along with bleeding and swelling of the brain. She was transported to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville for further treatment where she was listed in critical condition.
On Thursday, Ashley Chapman, 28, of Vine Grove was arrested and charged with First Degree Criminal Abuse and lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center under a $250,000 cash bond.
The case remains under investigation, but according the Kentucky State Police, the charges will be updated and likely be amended to murder.
