Wreck Claims One & Injures Two

Kentucky State Police responded to a deadly crash near the Hardin/ Larue County line on Highway 210 on Sunday night.
The accident happened just after 6 pm when a eastbound 2000 Ford Explorer driven by 17 year-old Alma Martinez Flores of Hodgenville, when for an unknown reason the suv left the right shoulder of the road with Flores overcorrected and lost control of vehicle. The suv went down an embankment and struck a tree and overturned coming to final rest upright.
Flores was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Hardin County Coroner. An adult passenger, 22 year-old Christian Carajal Lopez suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital by Air Methods Air Ambulance. An infant passenger, 2 year-old Yamilet Calderon suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Kosair’s Children Hospital.
All occupants were properly restrained and alcohol does not appear to be a factor. Flores did not have a driver’s license and had only been in the U.S. less that a year. State Police was assisted at the scene by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department and Hardin County Ambulance Service. The accident remains under investigation.
