Police Search For Meth Cook

A Brandenburg man is being sought after a police investigation turns up an established methamphetamine lab of several years.
The Meade County Sheriff’s Department detectives are searching for an established meth cook, 48 year-old Don C. Straney of Brandenburg after he fled police after they discovered a meth lab in the basement of his residence.
According to detectives, police working a year long investigation received accurate and current information causing them to obtain a search warrant for the Straney’s residence in December. Police conducted the search of the residence at 811 Old State Road in Brandenburg on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 27.
They found a designated space in the basement of the house which was setup for the manufacturing of methamphetamine. They discovered items which would suggest that the lab had been in operation for a several years, along with several grams of meth with an estimated street value of $200.
Officers went to Straney’s work place to discuss the matter where he fled police and still remains at large. Don C. Straney will face charges of Manufacturing methamphetamine 2nd degree and possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine 1st degree.
Straney has a previous record from a charge of manufacturing methamphetamine in Hardin County in September 2006. That was a class B felony, but now he faces a class
A felony with the second time of being charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.
