New Operating Rooms Soon At UK

The University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital is about to open its new robotic hybrid operating room as it completes another phase of construction at the facility.
The university says the hybrid operating room combines imaging technology with surgical capability. Dr. Joseph "Jay" Zwischenberger, surgeon-in-chief for UK HealthCare, says the facility will allow greater accuracy, reduced recovery time and reduced risk of post-op complications. He says cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries will be the chief use of the hybrid facility.
The construction phase also includes eight new state-of-the-art operating rooms and support areas.
The facilities are to be opened within the next few weeks.
