Shooting Injures Three
07/08/12 MRC/WXBC

Police continue to investigate an early Saturday morning shooting that left three people injured in Breckinridge County near McDaniels.

The shooting took place inside a car on Hornbeck-Mill Lane but a man and woman ran to a nearby house on Calvert Church Road trying to escape the shooter.

Joshua Skaggs, age 29 of Radcliff, had shotgun wounds on his face and upper body and 27 year-old Martel Selig of Rineyville had shotgun wounds in both her legs. Skaggs was carrying a 9mm handgun, and had apparently returned fire at the person who had fired the shotgun.

Skaggs was airlifted to University Hospital from the parking lot at Ben Johnson Elementary School by Air-Evac Lifeteam and Selig was transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield by Breck Central Ambulance Service.

Selig was treated, then arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was also named on an arrest warrant in Hardin County and faces additional charges of giving police a false identity during her initial questioning about the shooting.

While police were investigating the shooting, another gunshot wound victim showed up at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital seeking medical aid. John R. Colmore, age 32 of Leitchfield, was suffering from shotgun pellet wounds around his face. He was also wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant from another county in Kentucky.

Colmore and Selig have been lodged in the Breckinridge County Detention Center and Skaggs is in custody in Louisville. All three are also suspects in the break-in of a soft drink machine that happened at Mt. Zion Church shortly before the shooting incident took place.

Police are continuing with the investigation, but believe it was a drug deal that went bad and the shooter with the shotgun is still at large.
