The FBI’s top leader in Kentucky says she worries the agency’s ability to carry out its mission could be hurt by any decline in public approval.
Amy Hess is the special agent in charge of the FBI in Kentucky. She told reporters Friday she hasn’t seen any impact yet. But she acknowledges “a lot has happened nationally” in two years.
The FBI has come under attack from politicians including President Donald Trump. He’s been involved in a feud with fired FBI director James Comey. The FBI recently fired an agent who was removed from the Russia investigation over anti-Trump text messages.
Hess didn’t delve into those controversies. She says the agency has to reassure the public it’s committed to “doing the right thing.”
