Elizabethtown Independent Schools called off classes for Wednesday because of a threat from someone who wished to do harm to themselves or others.
A staff member reported the threat, but Elizabethtown police officers could not determine with certainty the person who made the threat or whether it was credible. Elizabethtown Independent School Superintendent Jon Ballard said the decision to cancel Wednesday classes was “out of an abundance of caution.”
The district announced the decision late Tuesday night. Ballard said the threat was most likely from a student, but he wouldn’t disclose more details because Elizabethtown Police Department is investigating.
He said in this day and time, you got to take everything seriously.
Ballard said the district would continue to cooperate with the police department.
A one-call from the district was sent out Tuesday night throughout the district.
