A two vehicle accident on southbound Interstate 65 near the 24 mile marker in Bowling Green claimed the life of one driver and injured the other Sunday night.
Officials say, according to witnesses, 30 year-old Cassandra Garrison of St. Louis, Missourt slowed to a low rate of speed in the car she was driving. They told officials Garrison took the exit and got back on I-65 southbound to drive the opposite direction.
Garrison continued her path of travel, striking a 2003 Ford Mustang, driven by 41 year-old Amy Eakles of Alavaon, Kentucky, head-on.
Garrison and Eakles were transported from the scene via EMS to the Medical Center Hospital in Bowling Green.
Eakles was later flown to Vanderbilt University Hospital where she died.
Garrison was transferred to Veto Skyline Medical Center Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Kentucky State Police was assisted on scene by the Bowling Green Police Department, Bowling Green Fire Department, and Medical Center EMS.
