A Radcliff woman was arrested late Wednesday afternoon and charged with abusing her 8-year-old son by striking him multiple times in the mouth and face with a plastic bat.
According to an arrest citation, 33 year-old Dante Chanelle Moore struck the child after he stole something.
Three other juveniles in the home said they saw the child being struck. Two of the three other children had slight bruising on their shoulders from being spanked they told Radcliff police.
The 8-year-old said he couldn’t remember how many times he was struck, but said it was “a lot.”
According to the citation, the mother and child told police he was struck over stealing. The child suffered a swollen lip and bruising above his lip and he told police, it “hurt when he talked.”
All of the children were removed from the home and are in the custody of Child Protective Services.
Moore is charged with first-degree criminal abuse of a child under the age of 12, a Class C felony punishable by five to 10 years in prison, if convicted.
She is in the Hardin County Detention Center in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond. She is scheduled to appear in Hardin District Court on December 20th.
