A Lexington man was arrested Thursday afternoon in Versailles and charged with two counts of murder in last week’s double homicide in Elizabethtown.
Taynandree Reed, 27, was arrested by Versailles police after a short foot pursuit as he exited a Kroger store in Versailles around 4:30 p.m., according to Elizabethtown police.
Reed is charged with fatally shooting 32 year-old Shawn Fox and 37 year-old Michael Buckner Thomas of Hopkinsville inside of a vehicle, and wounding a woman, on the afternoon of May 13.
Elizabethtown Police Department identified Reed as a suspect within 24 hours after the shooting and sent out information to various police agencies to be on the lookout for Reed. Around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, a Versailles officer passed Reed in a Kroger store, recognized him and Reed fled on foot before he was caught by police.
What brought Reed, Fox, Thomas and the adult female, who is not from Hardin County to the area, remains under investigation.
The shooting happened at the Ashley Pointe Apartments in the 600 block of Stewart Court with the vehicle, driven by the female, coming to a stop in the driveway of a home in the 100 block of Patterson Street. Fox and Thomas were pronounced dead at the scene by the Hardin County Coroner’s Office.
The woman has been released from University Hospital in Louisville.
Reed also is charged with first-degree assault and first-degree robbery. He took the woman’s purse from the vehicle, according to police.
He will be lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.
