A father is charged with murder in the the death of his ten-year-old daughter after a crash on Coral Hill Road in Barren County on May 9, 2020.
Kentucky State Police say the preliminary investigation revealed that 32-year-old McCoy was traveling east on Coral Hill Road when he was unable to negotiate a curve and his vehicle left the right shoulder of the road. McCoy overcorrected that caused his vehicle to cross both lanes, exit the left shoulder of the road, and struck multiple trees.
Christopher M. McCoy was transported to T.J. Samson Hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the collision.
Court documents say McCoy allowed a blood draw at the time of the crash. The results of that confirmed methamphetamine in his blood sample. In a police interview on August 1, 2020, McCoy denied using meth.
An arrest warrant was issued on August 4, 2020 and McCoy was charged with murder and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
He is being held in the Barren County Detention Center under a $75,000 cash bond and a court date is scheduled for September 10, 2020.
