A Florida man was arrested after leading Kentucky State Police on a high speed chase between Elizabethtown and Jefferson County Thursday (3/4) night.
Troopers attempted to make a traffic stop on a report of a reckless driver on Interstate 65 which possibly had a female is distress, after the car had exited the interstate at exit 94. The suspect vehicle fled police near Executive Drive and reentered northbound Interstate 65 where speeds reached 115 mph before troopers were successful in deflating the driver’s rear tire with a stop stick near the 111 mile marker. The car continued until the driver lost control near the 115 mile marker where the vehicle struck the center barrier and crossed the to out outer edge and struck the guardrail.
The driver, 32 year-old Dana Ashbrook of Kissimmee, Florida, had a brief altercation with troopers before he was taken into custody. Ashbrook and his female passenger, were taken to University of Louisville Hospital for minor injuries. During the course of the investigation troopers discovered, the female passenger was the girlfriend of Ashbrook and she stated to the troopers that he would not let her exit the vehicle prior to the incident.
Ashbrook was charged with a several charges including kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, wanton endangerment, DUI and speeding. He was later lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.
