Motorists in Meade County who typically use Ky 144 & 448 between Hog Wallow and Brandenburg, will begin to major changes and added delays beginning on Wednesday (8/17).
Construction crews are preparing to open the newest section of KY 313 (north of US 60 toward Brandenburg) on Wednesday, August 17th. Major changes in traffic patterns will result.
The change will feature permanent and temporary access points to existing KY 144 and intersecting roads. Construction will continue on these access points over the following few days. Residents along this stretch of KY 144 should pay close attention to signage and be patient as crews continue working toward completion.
Motorists traveling north on existing KY 313 should slow down and use additional caution upon approach to the US 60 traffic signal. New alignment features a continuation of KY 313 and blocked access to existing KY 144 from the intersection.
Motorists traveling on roads intersecting new KY 313 should also pay close attention to signage and be prepared to stop. Electronic message boards are already in place along KY 1238 and Buck Grove Road approaching new KY 313, alerting traffic of the upcoming opening date. Oversized “Stop” signs, additional “Stop Ahead” signs and rumble strips will be installed on these approaches.
Motorists on KY 1736 traveling toward KY 144 will temporarily be required to turn right onto KY 144 and then turn left, using a temporary connection for North/South access to KY 313.
The new KY 313 section will rejoin existing KY 144 just north of KY 1736. The final section of KY 313 remains under construction and will ultimately connect with the multilane section of the Brandenburg Bypass.
To insure safety of the motoring public and road crew workers, please be patient and obey traffic signs as these changes take place.
