A Louisville woman accused of trying to bribe police officers after an altercation with her neighbor was in court Saturday morning.
According to court documents, officers were called to the 600 block of Scholar House Court just around 11:50 p.m. Thursday on a report of a woman, Hannah Hayes, chasing neighbors with a knife and banging on doors. They found a woman banging on and breaking the windows of an apartment and screaming at the resident. Once the woman was detained, they noticed several cuts on her hands and a blood trail leading to a different apartment.
According to officials, the officers knew Hayes and knew she had a young child, around the ages of 2-3. They went into her apartment and made sure the child was safe. They then followed the trail the rest of the way and found a bloody knife in the sink.
Documents show the neighbor told officers Hayes was ‘highly intoxicated’ and started banging on her door, telling her to come outside and fight her before attempting to break in. In addition to banging on a door with a knife, officers found a small cast iron frying pan on the ground next to Hayes when they detained her.
Police then took her to UofL Hospital. Police say Hayes spontaneously said, “I don’t even care about my child” when at the hospital and they have the statement recorded on body camera. While at the hospital, Hayes allegedly spit on a nurse and called him a ‘cracker.’
Hayes continued to spit on multiple EMS and hospital staff, used racial slurs, and damaged hospital property, officials say. Hayes allegedly tried to pay police off and offered ‘sexual favors’ in order to be let go.
Hayes is charged with burglary, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a minor, third-degree assault using bodily fluids of a peace officer, and bribery of a public servant. Her bond is set at $10,000. She is expected back in court February 19.
