
A firefighter is in the hospital after sustaining an injury while fighting a house fire in the Portland neighborhood, according to the Louisville Fire Department.
First responders responded to a call at around 11:30 p.m. of a structure in the 223 North 19th Street on Saturday, December 6.
At the scene, crews discovered a fire on the second floor of a vacant house.
The fire was confined to the second floor without spreading to neighboring buildings and was quickly brought under control.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital after suffering injuries from a fall. The firefighter is expected to survive.
Louisville Fire Department said that utilities were not connected in the home at the time of the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
