\nKentucky State Police Post 04 Trooper Josh Cummings and Civilian Mark Wood of Elizabethtown are being credited with helping save a four year old girl after a traffic accident Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n
\nKentucky State Police Post 04 Trooper Josh Cummings and Civilian Mark Wood of Elizabethtown are being credited with helping save a four year old girl after a traffic accident Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Trooper Cummings was off duty and returning home from the gym. As he was traveling down U.S. 31-W Bypass in Elizabethtown, he stopped to render aid at an accident scene involving a single vehicle that had left the roadway. The witnesses that had already stopped to check on the passengers in the vehicle told Tpr. Cummings there was a small child that wasn\u2019t breathing.<\/p>\n
At this time Trooper Cummings saw Mark Wood holding the four year old next to the vehicle and Wood told him the child wasn\u2019t breathing but had a pulse. <\/p>\n
Both men immediately positioned the child for CPR and Wood gave rescue breaths while Cummings monitored her pulse and gave chest compressions.<\/p>\n
After several attempts they were able to get the child to breathe again on her own and were able to keep her breathing until EMS arrived.<\/p>\n
The child was airlifted to Kosair Childrens Hospital in Louisville, where she is listed in stable condition.<\/p>\n
