\nA house in Hardin County was destroyed by fire Tuesday (11\/22) morning. The fire was reported around 4:35 am in the 9000 block of Leitchfield Road near Stephensburg.<\/p>\n

Firefighters said flames were coming out of the windows and the roof of the home when they arrived. No one was home at the time of the fire. Crews worked several hours as the flames ran through the bedrooms and into the attic area of the house. The house is considered almost a total loss for the homeowner.<\/p>\n

US 62 was closed several hours while crews battled the three-alarm house fire. The fire scene was just east of Lakewood Elementary School and West Hardin Middle School. Hardin County Schools spokesman John Wright said Lakewood and West Hardin parents and students faced issues getting to the schools because of the road closures. <\/p>\n

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating to determine what sparked the fire. The Red Cross was called to assisted the family.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
