\nSeveral pieces of the base of the Confederate monument have arrived Monday (11\/28) in Brandenburg as crews continue efforts to relocate the 121 year old statue.<\/p>\n

Crews trucked in the base pieces with will attach to the foundation. The weather slowed some of the work, but the time line is still on schddule.<\/p>\n

Brandenburg Mayor Ronnie Joyner said workers brought the first few pieces of the base on Monday morning and fitted stones on the foundation to begin the layout phase of the project. The weather has help allowed local leaders to extend the collection of items for the new time capsule. Citzens may drop off small items for the time capsule during rgukar business hours until 4 pm Tuesday (11\/29) at Brandenburg City Hall. As of Monday afternoon, several items had been submitted to fill the capsule.<\/p>\n

Mayor Joyner said that even though work is underway, it will appear slow or nothing is going on until the bigger pieces are ready to be put in place. Several people have traveled to the river front to watch the progress unsure of what to expect. <\/p>\n
