Christmas By The River in Brandenburg features numerous lighted displays to celebrate the holiday season in the scene Brandenburg Riverfront Park. The event is presented by the City of Brandenburg, who is closely monitoring the figures on the event. As of Friday (12\/9), the first nine days had 3,068 vehicles counted during the nightly event. That number is slightly down from past years during the first eight days, but organizers see a bright spot in the figures as donations are up slightly by 42 cents per car. Organizers said the as of Friday $1,289.50 had been collected. The expenses typically cost the city between $1,200 to $1,500 for utilities during the event.<\/p>\n
A donation box is at the end of the route to allow donations to be made for the event to help with the expenses, such as electric and maintenance of the displays. City leaders are hopeful that the number of visitors will increase through the remainder of the event. Christmas By The River is open nightly through January 1 in the Brandenburg Riverfront Park.
