\nToday opens tax filing season for individual taxpayers with the Kentucky Department of Revenue, the same date as the federal Internal Revenue Service. Electronic filing is the most efficient method for filing returns.<\/p>\n

This year filers have three extra days to file, since April 15 is a Saturday and the following Monday (4\/17) is a holiday in Washington, DC. With federal offices closed that Monday, taxpayers have until Tuesday, April 18, 2017 to file their taxes. Even with the extra time, Kentucky Department of Revenue staff recommends taxpayers file well before the deadline. Filing early benefits taxpayers, by allowing staff can be quicker at processing those returns and causing refunds to be sent out faster. While taxpayers may vary on when they submit tax forms, officials strongly suggests that all taxpayers, including corporate and pass-through entity filers, file electronically. <\/p>\n

Important dates for filing your taxes are:<\/p>\n

January 31: All W-2 and K-3\/K-3E forms must be sent out to employees. <\/p>\n

February 15: First day Department of Revenue & IRS will begin sending tax refunds out.<\/p>\n

April 18: Filing deadline for all taxpayers.<\/p>\n
