Rice said the skull was intact, but it appeared to be old.

The biggest part is finding out where the dog brought the remains from. It’s not an easy task, as the search area includes more than 200 acres of rough terrain.

Detectives have collected several missing persons reports from the county and from surrounding counties but until details about the skull are released, no connections can be made. Rice said Shelby County currently has one active missing person case dating to 2010.

Cadaver dogs had also been brought to the property Wednesday night in an effort to locate additional remains, but they were unsuccessful since the area is heavily wooded and it was dark at the time.

Rice said the search area covers nearly 1,000 acres.

Sheriff Armstrong confirmed that no nearby graves in the area were disturbed, narrowing down the possible locations. The skull currently remains at the Shelby County Coroner’s office.
Source: WAVE

Law enforcement officers assembled search teams to scour hundreds of acres in Shelby County where a dog discovered a human skull.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[59

post-12046","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news","entry
"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
