According to Trooper Jeff Gregory with Kentucky State Police, the accident happened around 6:50 pm Wednesday (2\/8) at near intersection of Midway and Sirocco Roads. A 2003 Honda Civic driven by 30 year-old Randi Copher of Cloverport was traveling south on Midway Road, when she lost control of the car as she came out of a curve and crossed the oncoming lane onto the shoulder of the road.<\/p>\n
A 1998 Toyota Four Runner driven by 37 year-old Brenton Ross of Brandeburg was traveling north and attempted to avoid Copher’s car but struck the back passenger side of the car. Copher and her three year old child was taken to Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, Indiana by Meade County EMS, where the child was pronounced dead. Copher’s one year child was pronounced dead at the scene. Ross was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown by Meade County EMS.<\/p>\n
Copher was later transfered to University of Louisville Hospital.<\/p>\n
Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Meade County Sheriff’s Department, Payneville and Meade County Fire Departments and the Meade County Coroner. The roadway was closed several hours as the accident was reconstructed.<\/p>\n

The driver of the second vehicle was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital In Elizabethtown by Meade County EMS for his injuries.<\/p>\n
