\nThe Brandenburg City Council met during their regular monthly Monday night. The council discussed several sections of the proposed NQ2 license ordinance which relates to the city\u2019s alcohol control laws.<\/p>\n

City Attorney Steve Crebessa gave council members a draft copy of the proposed ordinance and the council worked through the draft with clarifications and amendments and deletions.<\/p>\n

After several minutes of discussion, the council decided to delay the first reading of the ordinance until the current draft had been updated. The plan for the ordinance is to include all of the city alcohol laws in one ordinance.<\/p>\n

In departmental reports, City Clerk Molly Janes confirmed that large item pickup will be held on Saturday, October 24 throughout the city. Public Works Director T.J. Hughes reported that all fire hydrant flushing in the town is complete and crews are working to test light displays for this year\u2019s Christmas By The River that will officially light up on Saturday, November 28 in the Brandenburg Riverfront Park.<\/p>\n

The council further discussed their idea of a business version of the \u201cyard of the month\u201d program. Mayor Ronnie Joyner said that he is looking for ideas of what to name the award. The council will work to brainstorm ideas on the name and logistic aspects of the award since some businesses do not have green spaces to place a plaque noting the honor.<\/p>\n
