\nA series of thunderstorms erupted over the Ohio River Valley Wednesday (4\/5) as an area of low pressure associated with a warm and cold fronts provided the right amount of fuel for large hail.<\/p>\n

The storms began to ignited during the prime heating of the afternoon as temperatures peaked in the upper 70s with sunshine. The storms developed and rapidly became severe with reports of large hail across central Kentucky. The storms eventually formed a line of damaging winds and prompted several tornado warnings across the Bluegrass region of Kentucky.<\/p>\n

Locally, the storms caused reports of a couple of utility poles knocked down along Highway 79 near the Breckinridge\/ Meade County line. A couple of mobile homes were damaged in Elizabethtown and several barns, trees, and power lines were damaged as the storms continued northeast across the state. National Weather Service survey crews will assess the heavily damaged areas beginning on Thursday (4\/6).<\/p>\n

Several reports of wind damage and along with large hail accompanied the storms as they exited the region late Wednesday night. The wind remained gusty for several hours after the storms as the area of low pressure propelled a cold front through the area. Temperatures on Thursday (4\/6) are expected to be in the middle forties with a chance of showers and clouds during the day. <\/p>\n

The cooler temperatures will set the stage for a possible frost Friday night into early Saturday morning as low temperatures will drop into the low 30s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
