\nSecondary Instructional Supervisor Kellianne Wilson presented an overview of the 2015 test data to the Meade County School Board at their regular monthly meeting Tuesday (10\/13) evening. Each school is rated in one of three categories. Three of the 8 schools in the district was rated Distinguished, 4 was rated Proficient and only 1 Needs Improvement. The district overall fell short by only 0.3 of a point from receiving a Distinguished rating. Wilson said while there is always room for improvement, the school leaders are always looking for ways to improve with what is best for the students in mind.<\/p>\n

In other business, the board voted to purchase a new minivan and a 1-ton work truck on state contract bid. The District asked local dealers to bid on these two vehicles. Tony Brown Chevrolet submitted a bid of $28,320 for the work truck but did not submit a bid on the minivan since Chevrolet no longer makes a minivan. Ray\u2019s Ford-Chrysler-Jeep submitted a bid of $24,988 for the truck and a bid of $22,732 for the minivan. The bids were awarded to Ray\u2019s Ford-Chrysler-Jeep for both vehicles. The School District has received a $20,000 grant from the Crusade for Children toward the purchase of a minivan to be used with the Community Base Program for the students with special needs, therefore, the minivan will only cost the School District $2,732.<\/p>\n
