\nThe Army Corps of Engineers held a public meeting Wednesday (04\/26) to update progress on the remediation work at Rough River Dam.<\/p>\n

Project engineers told those gathered the lake would run at summer pool levels for 2017 and 2018 but would likely face reduced levels in the next phase of repairs projected in 2019. The next phase of work is budgeted in the fiscal year 2018 spending plan currently before Congress, with plans calling for bids and equipment to be placed on the ground next year, followed by widening of the road so equipment put in place for the work, which slated to take place in 2019 with a projected completion date in 2021.<\/p>\n

Some of those in attendance pleaded with the Corps to delay that reduction until the late summer months of 2019, citing harm to the area economy. The Corps and engineers assured those concerned everything would be done to spare harmful impact, but their top concern has to be the safety of the dam, those living downstream and those involved with construction.<\/p>\n
