\nThe Meade County Sheriff\u2019s Department responded to several accidents over the past weekend. Among the several calls, deputies responded to a call on Friday (10\/09) around 8:30 am in Garrett.<\/p>\n

A 2010 Ford F105 driven by 79 year-old Robert Smith of Irvington pulled into the path of a southbound 2011 GMC Sierra pickup driven by 50 year-old Roger Fortner of Ekron on Kentucky 144. Smith was taken to the Norton Hospital in Louisville by Meade County EMS. The Ekron and Flaherty Fire Departments assisted at the scene.<\/p>\n

On Saturday evening (10\/10) the sheriff\u2019s department responded to a call of a car versus a cow in the 800 block of Midway Road. The accident happened around 8:17 pm when a 1967 Ford F150 driven by 19 year-old Kaitlin Fackler of Brandenburg was traveling along the road and did not notice that a black cow had entered into the roadway before colliding with it. Fackler was not injured.<\/p>\n

Just a short time later, around 9:30 pm a truck struck a horse in the 2800 block of Rhodelia Road. A 1999 Ford F350 driven by 48 year-old Keith Whitworth of Irvington was traveling east and came upon a black horse and struck the animal from behind. The two female juveniles ages 16 and 18 were ejected from the horse. Both girls were treated at the scene by Meade County EMS and then airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital by Air Methods. Whitworth was not injured.<\/p>\n

Neither female was wearing reflective material. The Payneville Fire Department also assisted at the scene.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
