Over the weekend, a trash can inside Wicked Eyed Woman in downtown Elizabethtown was set on fire. Then, on the following day, a planter attached to the same building was ignited. People were in the building when both fires occurred.<\/p>\n
Office John Thomas with the Elizabethtown Police Department said officers identified Brant Weiss as a suspect during their investigation.<\/p>\n
When questioned, Weiss confessed to setting the fires. The police are not sure what his motive was. According to the arrest citation, alcohol was involved.<\/p>\n
Weiss was arrested Monday and released on bond.<\/p>\n
First-degree arson is a class A felony. He could face 20 to 50 years in prison if convicted.<\/p>\n
Hardin County Schools district spokesman John Wright said Weiss is suspended with pay until the investigation is complete.
