\nA project to resurface seven miles of the Interstate 65 north of Elizabethtown in Hardin County will begin Monday (6\/19).<\/p>\n
Scotty\u2019s Contracting and Stone, LLC was awarded a contract for the work at a cost of $12.43 Million. The amount is $3 Million under the initial construction estimate. All six lanes of the interstate between Mile Point 90 and Mile Point 98 will receive an asphalt overlay. The project will ultimately extend quality of pavement north of the current I65 widening construction zone.<\/p>\n
Work will be divided between this year and next year, with northbound construction in 2017 and southbound construction in 2018. Crews will begin the northbound project on Monday with varying lane closures expected over the course of construction. The northbound phase is scheduled to be complete in October. Southbound work is scheduled to begin and be completed next year.<\/p>\n
Traffic impacts should be minimized with two lanes maintained during most of the project, which is the current configuration already in place south of Elizabethtown. Lane closures are restricted to off-peak dayparts and no closures will be in effect on holiday or special event travel periods.<\/p>\n
Ramps at Exits 91, 93 and 94 will be resurfaced with the project. Closure of these ramps will be required as construction progresses. Public notice will be given on these closures through local media outlets, social media outlets and travel information outlets.<\/p>\n
Motorists are urged to continually pay close attention to construction zone signs, especially those motorists who travel this section of I65 frequently. Lane configurations will vary day-to-day throughout the duration of the project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
