\nA fire caused heavy damage to the offices of a Grayson County newspaper Friday (11\/24) night.<\/p>\n

A volunteer fireman from the East Grayson County Fire Department noticed the fire at the rear of the building around 9:30 pm on the Leitchfield town square. Heavy smoke and flames were visible in the front and rear of the building and an adjacent business. <\/p>\n

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames in the back of the building quickly. As firefighters fought the fire in the back of the building, other crews entered the front of the structure to ensure the fire had not spread beyond the newspaper\u2019s section of the building.<\/p>\n

Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall said the fire began in the rear of the building in a break room area and the cause was \u201clikely\u201d electrical in nature. The News Gazette section of the structure suffered severe fire damage in the rear, with major smoke damage throughout the rest of building. The adjacent business suffered what appeared to be minor smoke damage.<\/p>\n

Firefighters worked at the scene about two and a half hours with no injuries reported.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
