\"Meade_County_Kentucky_Courthouse\"<\/a>Members of Meade County Fiscal Court considered a rezoning request in the Farmington Estates subdivision in Flaherty during their regular monthly meeting.<\/p>\n

Before their regular meeting, county leaders conducted a public hearing on the rezoning of lots 44 and 45 along Ester Court from A-2 to R-1. Jeff Nott owns both lots and plans to build a house on each lot but does not have enough road frontage to meet requirements for the R-2. The court heard from six residents adjoining residents who spoke against the proposal citing issues of drainage, accommodations for two houses unevenly spaced in the neighborhood. Some residents feel that the addition of two houses will hurt the local real estate market in the area.<\/p>\n

After the forty five minute hearing, Fiscal Court convened their regular monthly meeting and discussed the issue. After a few minutes of discussion, the court voted 4 to 2 against the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission’s request to approve the zoning change. <\/p>\n

In other business the court heard and approved the first readings of ordinances for nuisance and abandoned property. The vote was five to one with Magistrate Steve Wardrip voting against the ordinances. The court approved the appointments of Fred L. Sipes to the Agriculture Natural Resources board and Linda Wood to the Youth Development Board of the County UK Cooperative Extension Service.<\/p>\n

The court took no action setting the upcoming holiday hours due to the new state leadership that is scheduled to transition at the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n
