\nAirports across the US are on high alert following the recent terror attacks in Paris and continuous threats from terror organizations.<\/p>\n

For the first time in nearly a year, the US State Department is warning travelers of an increased risk to Americans, especially those traveling abroad.<\/p>\n

The updated travel alert was issued following threats from terrorist groups such as ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and Boko Haram. The heightened alert advises American citizens who travel to avoid crowds and be vigilant in public places. The alert expires February 24th.<\/p>\n

TSA inspectors are being even more thorough now because of all the concerns, meaning it will take more time for each person to be screened.<\/p>\n

With record holiday travel expected this week, those going through airports can expect longer waits at security checkpoints. Those flying can expect more random hand swabbing for explosive residue, bomb-sniffing dogs, laptop checks and shoe removals, even if you have TSA Pre-Check.<\/p>\n

About 47 Million Americans are expected to travel for Thanksgiving. That’s the highest number since 2007.<\/p>\n

The vast majority of travelers, around 42 Million, are expected to drive, while another 3.6 million will fly, the forecast says.<\/p>\n

With more people being off on Wednesday, the crowds will start earlier in the day.
