Police in Breckinridge County responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from Hardinsburg. They found the driver, 25-year-old Daniel Thomas Ashley of New Albany, responding to lights siren by accelerating the vehicle and reaching speeds of 100 miles an hour and improper passing of vehicles, even with a passenger asking him to stop.<\/p>\n
Ashley swerved from one set of spike strips, clipping a police vehicle. The pursuit went into Meade County, where a second set of spike strips punctured the passenger side tires. Ashley wrecked the vehicle near Brandenburg and fled on foot with a K9 unit later locating him and bringing him into custody.<\/p>\n
Ashley was treated and released from Hardin Memorial Hospital and booked into the Breckinridge County Detention Center on charges including, wanton endangerment, assault, speeding, improper passing, reckless driving and carrying a concealed weapon among others.<\/p>\n
It was the second time in three days that local law enforcement were involved in a high-speed pursuit: on Thursday night, another Indiana man fled from police near Hensley in Breckinridge County to near Maceo in Daviess County before wrecking his vehicle.<\/p>\n
