Meade County Judge Executive Gerry Lynn presented the council a check in the amount of $5,902 in the area development funds which was already earmarked to the be used for a matching grant for sidewalk improvements along Main Street in downtown Brandenburg. The funds are part of an allotment of funding provided to each county that is divided between each incorporated city in each county.<\/p>\n
In other business, the city council discussed having the State Transportation Department to reinstall cross walks in several areas around town. Noted places of concern included Broadway at Main Street, Old State Road in front of the Meade County High School and on Old Ekron Road. Mayor Ronnie Joyner said he would be meeting transportation officials in the few days and would bring those concerns.<\/p>\n
Mayor Joyner had the council to review submitted bids to replace a maintenance truck for the Public Works Department. During the review, it was noted that a new vehicle from the local dealers would take between eight and twelve weeks for delivery and an out of town dealer has a truck that would fit the need already in stock. Council members voted to approve the purchase of the truck from Dan Power GM Center at a cost of $26,989. <\/p>\n
Mayor Joyner informed the council that design plans for the water treatment plant upgrades are ninety percent complete and that he has stopped proceeding further with plans until the city council decides which type of treatment they will use in the future.<\/p>\n
Due to the scheduling conflicts, Mayor Joyner asked the council to move the May regular meeting to Monday, May 6 at 7 pm, which was approved by council members. <\/p>\n
A reminder that the Brandenburg Public Works crews will be flushing fire hydrants through out the city during the month of April. Spring Large Item Pickup will be held on Saturday, April 27 to allow residents to remove unwanted items from the property to include trash, furniture, and appliances.
