The visit made the fourth time in the past eight years that county leaders have brought the meeting to the western portion of the county. The visits around the county allow community members a chance to bring issues to their elected officials in a convenient location. <\/p>\n
Magistrates was presented $408,691 in Rural Municipal Aide funds from the Kentucky Transportation Department. The funds have been designated for resurfacing work along Cassies’s Way, Kirchdorfer Road, Fousheee Hill, and Medley Drive. The court also approved an executive order forming a Census Committee to begin work on the 2020 census to ensure accurate information which is critical for various governmental and economic issues for the county. <\/p>\n
Fiscal Court approved the lowest bid of four received for winter road salt by Compass Minerals at a price of $89.98 per ton. They also approved two bids from Prodigy Construction for a new evidence storage area and remodeling of the Sheriff’s Department for a combined total of $69,260. Sheriff Phillip Wimpee said the construction is needed to bring the Sheriff’s Department up to date and to become accredited. <\/p>\n
Magistrates approved the re-appointments of Edwin Pike to the Payneville Fire Department Board, Charles Wilkins Sr, to the Flaherty Fire Department Board, Don Richardson to the Ekron Fire Department Board, Doug Cornett and Keith Boothe to Meade County Water District Board. The court approved the a zoning request from A2 to R1 along Snelling Road. They also approved the 2018 audit and conducted the first reading of the proposed $16 Million budget for the 2019-2020 fiscal year that begins on July 1. <\/p>\n
Magistrates discussed and set a date for a workshop meeting to discuss the items related to a nuisance ordinance. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 4 at 7 at the Meade County Courthouse. The court along with various departments related to the issue will begin the review of how to possibly craft an reliable and enforceable ordinance. <\/p>\n
