Mayor Ronnie Joyner said that three people voiced interest in the vacant seat. He recommended Bradley Johnson to be appointed to fill the remainder of the vacant term. The council unanimously approved the Mayor&#8217;s recommendation. Johnson has previously served on the Brandenburg City Council.<\/p>\n<p>In the business session, the council approved a resolution for the Lincoln Trail Area Development District to submit an amendment to grant paper work seeking to fund the replacement of the Wastewater Plant Project. Ashley Willoughby of the Lincoln Trail Area Development District said that the amendment was needed to the original grant paper work which asked for an approximate $3.4 million to renovate the facility. He said with the recent events surrounding Nucor project, the grant application from last year was paused and will have to be resubmitted for a replacement project that could possibly allow the city to be approved up to $8 million in funding. The council approved the resolution to allow Mayor Joyner to sign the necessary documents. <\/p>\n<p>City leaders heard a presentation from Sara Jo Best of the Lincoln Trail District Health Department, which outlined the function, services, and resources that the Meade County Health Department locally to assist local leaders and citizens with issues and policies. The local health department is part of a health district that includes Meade, Hardin, Larue, Nelson, Marion and Washington Counties in Central Kentucky. Best said that the latest ranking for health in Meade County was 19 which was improved but the county also had a lower longevity rate.<\/p>\n<p>David Pace, Chairman of the Industrial Authority and Meade County Attorney Jessica Roberts discussed a lease agreement related to the trail system next to Nucor facility. Pace said that the agreement would allow all of the current trail areas to remain as they are and resulting in the area to encompass about a one hundred eight acres of park and trail area which will be separated from the manufacturing facility by a fence. Roberts said that the long term agreement would place the deed of the park land into a county\/city ownership. Pace asked the city council for their approval to give Mayor Ronnie Joyner the authority to sign the lease documents on behalf of the city. The motion failed due to a lack of a second with several council members commenting that they would rather take a vote on the finalized agreement once it is presented to the city.<\/p>\n<p>City Clerk Amy Haynes reported that the first nine days of Christmas By The River has resulted a slight increase in donations over last year but a lower number of car volume during the same period. She said so far the donation average was about thirty nine cents per car that visited the nightly event in the Riverfront Park. <\/p>\n<p>Mayor Joyner reported that work on the new side walk along the mural next to the Confederate Monument was close to beginning once the weather allowed.
